I wanted to chat about a few tips on how to find your ideal family! First, you need to ask yourself a few questions about the type of nanny services you are willing to offer.
- How many children are you comfortable with handling?
- What type of schedule are you looking for?
- What errands are you good with?
- Would you consider traveling with the family?
These are just a few examples of what nannies should think about prior to committing to a position. (The last thing you want is to find out you will be traveling four times a year, and it's not something you really want to do.) This example would definitely put everyone in an uncomfortable position, and will effect the relationship adversely.
Next, you want to have your experiences, references, and training presented in an organized way such as a resume, or portfolio. During your interview you'll want to have your questions written down so you could get a clear picture of what the position entails. Between what your looking for, and what your answers are from your questions you would get a sense if this position is a good fit for you.
Today there are so many ways to find a family. Word of mouth, other nannies, local agencies. Online tools such as Care.com, and Nanny4Hire are good places to check out. Try to interview with as many families as possible so you can compare each position and compensation plans. I hope this helps a little. Please post your question, comments, or subscribe below! Gracias!
